It’s fall, and we could not be more excited because it is such a wonderful time of the year! It’s not quite as hot as summer, but it is still warm enough to get out and enjoy the majesty of a good ol’ autumn season.
You need to stay hydrated by drinking water frequently and regularly, of course. But the great thing about fall, beyond trick-or-treating, watching football, or pigging out at the Thanksgiving dinner table, is enjoying the terrific flavors that pop up during the season.
That includes your drinking water, by the way.
Here are some ways you can add a little spice to your drinking water to celebrate this wonderful season by creating infused water.
Cinnamon Apple Spice
Cinnamon and apples go together like peanut butter and jelly, especially during the fall.
You can create a healthy and flavorful infused water beverage by taking a pitcher of water, adding a few cinnamon sticks to taste, and tossing in an apple that has been sliced. Let the pitcher sit in your refrigerator for 4-8 hours, or overnight. Then you’ll have a tasty beverage.
We all know apples are healthy, but did you know that there are health benefits to cinnamon, too? Cinnamon can help regulate your blood sugar, which is a perfectly good reason (besides it tasting so yummy) to put it in your water.
Orange Cucumber Delight
If you want a reminder of summer even during the cool fall months, you can try a tasty orange cucumber delight.
Take your pitcher of water and add cucumber slices. Toss in an inch or so of fresh ginger, and then peel an orange and place the peels in the water. Let sit in a refrigerator for 4-8 hours, then enjoy.
This beverage has tons of vitamin C and antioxidants, which are both great for your body. It also doesn’t have any calories or added sugar, yet tastes great regardless.
Cranberry Pear Cocktail
Fruit has been used to celebrate fall for centuries. Cranberries and pears in particular are used in the last month of fall to celebrate the Christmas season.
You can create a cranberry pear “cocktail” that tastes like Christmas in a glass.
Start with a pitcher of water. Include a handful of cranberries that have been sliced in half. Slice a pear into thin slices and toss them in. For a bonus, toss in clementine peelings. Refrigerate for 4-8 hours and share with your friends and family (or keep it all to yourself; we don’t mind).
These infused water drinks can transform ordinary drinking water – even delicious spring water – to a beverage that truly captures the essence of this amazing season. Enjoy!
