What Water Is Best for Baby Formula?

Once a parent chooses to use baby formula, there are a number of questions to think about. One question you may not have considered is what water is appropriate to use with baby formula, but it’s crucial that parents stay educated on the topic. There are a few solid sources that can be used for water, but it’s just as important to know how to prepare it. Keep reading for an explanation.

Water to Use

There are three types of water that are most appropriate for your infant’s formula. The first option is bottled water made specifically for babies. These allows the comfort of knowing the water being used had to follow much stricter guidelines. Regular bottled water is also an option, though it’s important to look into what all is in the bottle you purchase. Some brands use minerals to enhance the taste, which isn’t great for a child. The best bottled option that isn’t made specifically for babies would be spring water with no additives, but even then, we still recommend boiling it!

Many parents probably want to know if tap water is fine for their infant. Unfortunately, the answer isn’t as clear as the water we put in our bodies. Depending on where you live, the tap water you use can include a varying amount of chemicals and other materials. Most water coming from the tap will be fine after it’s boiled, and there are methods of testing your water to ensure it’s fine.

How to Prepare It

Just like everything else regarding your baby, make sure to follow the directions on the package of formula you are using. Every formula package is different, so it’s very important to understand the correct amount of water and method of mixing. Once you understand the proper amount of water needed, boil it in a clean pan for one minute, then let it cool down to a lukewarm temperature. Once the water is ready, make sure to measure carefully to get the right consistency. Not enough water can lead to health issues like stomach problems, while too much water can prevent your baby from getting the necessary amount of nutrients.

The Water Way Can Help!

Our Favorite Lakes in the Southeast

There’s nothing like a lake to bring family and friends together for a day full of laughs, swimming, and soaking up the sun. Fortunately for our friends in the Southeast, there are plenty of fantastic spots to choose from! Whether you’re looking to take a dip in Georgia or ready to swim in the Carolinas, there is always a good option nearby.

Lake Douglas

Lake Douglas is actually a reservoir that was built in the 1940s and sits in one of Tennessee’s most popular areas to visit. Conveniently located near both Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, this lake provides all of the highlights of a lake experience with plenty of other adventures close by.

Lake Lanier Islands

A vacation hotspot just outside of Atlanta, Lake Lanier Islands provide everything needed for the perfect getaway. Where else can you find horseback riding, zip lining, mini golf, and wine cruises all in the same location?

Lake Lure

A gorgeous lake with one of the most beautiful views in the southeast, we can’t encourage a visit to Lake Lure enough. The lake, as well as the town that’s named after it, were both envisioned by Dr. Lucius B. Morse as the perfect resort community. Chimney Rock lies above this scenic body of water, which means a great view is just a short walk away.

Lake Martin

This relaxing lake in Alabama once held the title of the largest man-made body of water in the world! While it no longer holds the title, there are plenty of great reasons to visit this popular spot. A series of fun events throughout the year includes fishing tournaments, firework shows, and the famous AquaPalooza. Lake Martin also has a Chimney Rock, though this one is cliff jumping instead of views.

Lake Ouachita

This large lake in Arkansas has nearly 700 miles of shoreline, and is located inside of the Ouachita National Forest. It is a heavenly spot for fisherman, with world class Trophy Striped Bass swimming alongside catfish, walleye, largemouth bass, and many other great catches.

This is also a wonderful spot for scuba divers, with rare non-stinging jellyfish and sponges providing companionship to witness one of the world’s largest crystal veins.

Working Together to Prevent Water Pollution

Most of us are worried about water pollution, but many people still don’t take the time to make changes on a personal level. However, this is important for truly making large-scale changes! By participating in a few easy practices and sharing them with our family and friends, we can set the wheels in motion for a national pollution revolution. Here are some simple ways of improving the condition of our nation’s water.

Watch What Goes Down Your Sink and Toilet

We casually put many things down our toilets, sinks, and showers that could easily go in the trash or elsewhere. One of the most common is fats, oils, and grease while cooking. Put them into a jar and discard the jar every time it fills up!

Individuals also need to avoid flushing cleaning materials down the sink, along with pills and other forms of drugs. If any of these materials are not meant to be thrown away, there are centers that dispose of hazardous waste for the community. Even if you already avoid grease and cleaning materials, there are other items you may not know are bad for our water system.

Even though toilet paper is flushed, that doesn’t mean materials like dust cloths, paper towels, and wrappers should be! Put them in the trash and encourage those around you to do the same. Also, don’t overuse your garbage disposal. Try to throw away or compost solid materials instead of sending them down the sink.

Minimize Use

While controlling what we put into our water system is obviously important, it may surprise some people to know that it’s also important to control how much water we use on a daily basis. A water efficient toilet does wonders, but until you get one, putting a brick in the toilet tank can reduce the amount of water you use! You can also avoid using excess bleach, detergent, and water by waiting to clean your dishes and clothes until you have full loads.

We make it our priority to not only deliver top-quality water today, but make sure that our actions do nothing but ensure quality water in the future. How to Donate Water

Donating water has become something that many people have felt called to do in the wake of recent disasters, but not everybody is sure about the best way to do so. Water will always be needed in certain locations throughout the world, but a recent uptick in water-related chaos has brought the issue front and center. The Flint, Michigan crisis that began in 2014 raised a lot of awareness, and more recent disasters like Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria have only bolstered the need for water donations. Keep reading for some of the best ways to donate water!

Donations

Donating makes giving to those in need easy – all you have to do is purchase a product or give money to an organization, and they will get the water there for you! There are countless wonderful groups for this very purpose, including water.org, charitywater.org, thewaterproject.org, and waterforthepeople.org. Not only do they handle donations, but they provide various ways you can help – some of which you may not have considered before.

Times of crisis open up new methods for donating. Many companies will match their employees’ donations and take care of sending the donations to the proper charity. There will also be options through social media platforms and various businesses (both large and small). There isn’t a wrong way to donate, just make sure that the charity is legitimate first. If you are giving money to a relief campaign, you can normally check the percentage of donations that go directly to the cause.

Compete

Just like many other causes, there is the option to participate in competitive events that use the proceeds to make a positive impact for water-needing communities. One of the biggest examples of this would be TEAM Water, which was co-founded by Matt Damon. These events allow for donations in addition to plenty of exposure through news articles, television, and social media!

Thank You for Caring

Having people ask us how they can donate water is an incredibly uplifting experience. It’s comforting to know that no matter what disasters occur, the citizens of the world will rally together to help those in need. Contact us for more information about the quality of our water and our delivery and filter services!

Where Does Our Water Come From?

It may be a part of our everyday lives, but how many of us know where the water in our homes comes from? Most of us would say we understand the water cycle and its various stages. Evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and more send water from different sources, like the ocean and river, to the atmosphere and back. But how does this relate to our water?

Groundwater Sources

When it rains, water hits the ground and eventually seeps into the land. Water will naturally take the path of least resistance, which causes it to slowly move throughout the earth. Certain materials like gravel, sand, and clay provide better underground storage units for water. If there are enough open pores in the material underneath the surface, water wells begin to form! An ideal water well will have a confining layer above it. This is a layer of less permeable rock that provides a natural filter for the water, which provides a cleaner drinking experience. Once a sizeable well has been formed, we can dig down and use it for our washing, drinking, and cleaning needs.

Surface-water Sources

The more common source for our drinking water is surface-water sources. This includes natural and man-made sources like rivers, lakes, oceans, reservoirs, streams, and more! Surface-water sources provide a simpler method of obtaining this valuable resource, which is why they account for over 80% of water used in the United States. They do take more effort to filter, but having such a large supply makes it well worth it.

Purification

No matter where your water comes from, it will need to be decontaminated. All sorts of diseases are contained in unfiltered water, so this is a very important step. Some of the more common methods are coagulation and flocculation (the use of positively charged chemicals to neutralize the negative aspects of dirt), sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. In addition to these purification methods, you can contact your water supplier for an annual report on the quality of the water being supplied to your home.

Water Way Knows Quality Water

We understand all the various methods of acquiring water, and we only use the best for our valued clients! Our focus on building relationships with manufacturing, construction, mining, and other industries has allowed us to create a strong network with a focus on quality and convenience. Splash into Summer with These Alabama Water Parks!

While we are enjoying the summer, we can’t help but notice it gets a little toasty in Alabama from time to time. Fortunately, Alabama is not just one of the nation’s most humid states, it also has some of the best water parks! Wave pools, water slides, and even roller coasters are combined at locations across the state to make a fun day for the whole family. Don’t believe us? Let us tell you about some of our favorites!

Alabama Splash Adventure – Bessemer, AL

Splash Adventure is a combination of classic and unique entertainment. It brings the wave pool, lazy river, and water slides in full force. With names like Neptune’s Plunge, Splashdown, and Upsurge bringing perfect descriptions for these rides, you are guaranteed a good time. What really sets this park apart, though, is the creative concepts. This includes an adventure course, water maze, and bumper boats! Don’t forget to check out the Rampage while you’re there – the wooden roller coaster has been with the park since its days as Visionland.

Spring Valley Beach – Blountsville, AL

Spring Valley Beach is an adventure-seeker’s water park. Its arsenal of exciting slides includes Need for Speed, Black Out, The Sidewinder, and The Circle S. All of these brings their own thrills and danger, but none compare to the king of all slides – 360 Rush. Standing 58 feet tall, this monster of a slide sends two separate riders down two separate slides, where they eventually meet in a water bowl at 30 mph! While the rafts may seem close to colliding at moments, both riders end up at the bottom of the bowl ready to go for another round.

Point Mallard Park – Decatur, AL

Looking for a little history in your swim? Point Mallard is the place to be! This spectacular park is home to the nation’s first wave pool, and offers much more as well. Other water activities include an Olympic pool, water slides, and an ocean complete with sand. The park also provides a campground, bike trail, ice-skating rink, batting cages, and golf course! It’s safe to say you will not run out of things to do at Point Mallard.

To keep from getting tired throughout the day, make sure that you are staying hydrated. Keep a water bottle or large glass at your desk, and refill frequently.

Get Some Exercise

Beyond staying hydrated, it is important that your day consist of some exercise! A sedentary lifestyle can lead to many health problems. There are many small things you can do at work to help keep your body active and alive!

If you can, try fitting a ten minute walk into every day. If the weather is nice, take a stroll around your building. If not, just walk through the hallways. Make a little small talk. The Secret Behind the Office Water Cooler

We all do it! We spend a minute too long hanging around the water cooler at work chatting with coworkers. But is there more to the office water cooler than simply a hangout space where procrastination flourishes? Find out the secret about office water coolers with Water Way Delivery in Birmingham, AL.

Water Helps Us Focus Faster

When your body is dehydrated, your brain moves at a slower pace. Research has shown that drinking enough water helps improve mental and physical performance. No matter what job you have, personal performance is certainly important.

Scientists believe that employees who are dehydrated have trouble focusing. Their attention span is shorter and their response time to tasks at hand is slower. Those able to improve their mental capacity by staying hydrated throughout the day tend to perform better than those who do not. So, an office water cooler is more than just a place to show Joey your latest baby pictures. It is also the source of fuel for your daily productivity.

Healthy Workers, Healthy Work Culture

Hydrated workers are happy workers! Yes, chatting around the water cooler can get out of hand. But it is important to take breaks between tasks. Especially for those working nine to five desk jobs, work can get monotonous. Breaking up the day with healthy, hydrating breaks is more beneficial than it may seem.

Stepping away from your computer screen to engage with other coworkers takes your mind out of “work mode” for a minute. It helps you relax while also getting in your 9 glasses a day this summer. Employees should be encouraged to socialize every hour, at least, to help improve their health, performance, and overall morale.

Even sharing baby pictures with Joey at the water cooler is good for you! Why? Studies have shown that taking a glance at your social media profile helps boost memory and cognitive thought. Sharing with others, receiving verbal input, and producing verbal output helps as well. The exchange of ideas that takes place at the water cooler should be embraced.

The Benefits of Water for Your Employees | Office Water Delivery Service

EmployeeWater

Do you have a steady, ready supply of water at your business?

Do you understand why having water at the ready is important for your fellow team members?

If not, you’re in luck – there are plenty of reasons to have water available, and all of them have to do with the health and productivity of your team.

That’s why we offer an office water delivery service: because we understand just how important it is for employees to regularly consume water throughout the day, no matter if they work inside in an air-conditioned office or outside in the elements.

Water is crucial; here’s why.

Water Is Linked to Work Performance

To say that water plays a role in how well employees work is an understatement.

Numerous studies have been conducted on the impact of water at a work site. Hydration is essential because it affects:

  • Endurance
  • Aerobic performance
  • Cognitive function

All of these are important when it comes to how well employees work. Simply put, well-hydrated employees perform better than those who don’t drink water regularly throughout the day.

A study by the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine found that dehydration “adversely influence[s] decision-making and cognitive performance”, which impacts everyone, no matter if they’re doing manual labor, working behind a desk, or sweating it out in the outdoors.

If you want your team working to their best ability, they need water throughout the day, courtesy of an office water delivery service.

Hydration Can Impact Moods

Workers don’t just work better when they’re hydrated; they also feel better.

According to two studies from the University of Connecticut’s Human Performance Laboratory, being even mildly dehydrated can negatively affect moods in both men and women.

People who are dehydrated not only feel worse about tasks and performance; they also feel worse about themselves. All of this contributes to lower morale and less productivity, two things all businesses want to avoid.

The Conclusion: You Need an Office Water Delivery Service

Hydration is important, especially at the work place. Workers need water, and they need regular access to clear, fresh, pure spring water.

Contact us for more information on setting up your office water delivery service and keeping your place of business covered – and fully supplied with all the water you want.
