Fall is here, and that means it’s time for football, great Southern weather, and looking and feeling healthy and strong.
Water, not surprisingly, has a lot to do with all of these. You need plenty of water while at a football game; Southern weather in the fall is still somewhat hot and humid; and water has a lot to do with how you look.
You may not think the third one is that obvious, and maybe it isn’t. But it is true. Water is not just for your body’s health; it can also be for your body’s appearance, and drinking it in the fall means you can look and feel good after the summer has come and gone.
Healthy, Glowing Skin Needs Water
Your organs need water to stay healthy; your skin is your body’s largest organ. Therefore, if you want to have great-looking skin, you need plenty of water.
One of the best things you can do to keep that fresh look of summer on your skin well into the fall is to stay hydrated. More water means nutrients have an easier time being delivered to your skin, and it’s those nutrients that keep your skin cells plump and firm.
Firmer skin is healthier skin. Also, it is better for your appearance because it can reduce bloated or wrinkled skin.
Water Can Help Avoid the Dreaded Fall Weight Gain
In fall, people tend to gain weight. In fact, people gain more weight in September than any other month except for December. There is something about cooler weather that makes us hungry – plus, we are no longer saving our bodies for swimsuit season, and we have all those delicious foods to eat when we tailgate at games.
Further, we are also less active in the fall than we are in the summer, so we go from being fairly active from June to August to slacking off once cooler weather comes around.
You can avoid getting many of those unwanted pounds by drinking more water. Water fills you up. It also addresses hunger pangs, which actually are often thirst pangs. In other words, your body may feel like it is hungry when it is actually thirsty.
It has been proven that drinking more water helps people consume fewer calories. So, if you want to keep off the pounds in fall, even as we start eating Halloween candy and Thanksgiving dinners, drink up!
Keep Your Metabolism Going Strong
Our metabolisms start tapering off in the fall and through the winter as our bodies react naturally to cooler weather and shorter days.
You can keep your metabolism going strong by – you guessed it – drinking lots of water. Water helps you burn more calories, which is really what your metabolism does (it is the process by which your body turns food into energy). Plus, if you’re dehydrated, your metabolism will slow by as much as 3 percent.
Keep that fat-burning metabolism high by staying well-hydrated.
So, to recap, by drinking plenty of water, you will not only feel better, but you will also have better-looking and healthier skin, less weight-gain, and have a faster metabolism.
