Spring Water: How Freshness Affects Taste

Water is crucial to life. It regulates our body’s temperature. It helps us remove toxic waste. It cushions our joints. It aids in converting food into energy. It helps our cells in retrieving oxygen and nutrition.  Without water, we could not survive.

So, how do you make sure that you are putting the best water into your body? All properly filtered water is healthy, but spring water is the best. This is because spring water is filtered so perfectly that all the dangerous toxins are removed, but the vital minerals remain!

Your body wants the minerals that spring water contains, so how do you determine what brand of spring water you want to purchase for your home or office? Taste.

Stale Water

Have you ever woken up desperate for a sip of water? You reach over and take a big swig from the cup that rested on your nightstand all night, and the taste that follows startles you. Water isn’t supposed to have a major taste. Why does this water taste weird? You may have even found yourself wondering, “Can water go stale?”

While filtered water can remain safe to drink for thousands of years, the taste does change. Chemically, water that has been left out all night has absorbed some of the C02 in the air. This changes the pH balance of the water, which creates that ‘stale’ taste.

The longer water rests, the staler the taste.

Choosing Water

In order to choose water that tastes delicious, you will want to choose water that has been extracted and bottled quickly.

Many companies get their spring water from a spring, but then deliver that water to a facility where it sits until it is bottled.

If you want to make the best investment for your office or home, ask water delivery service companies about their water extraction process!

Water Way: A Fresh Tasting Water Delivery Service

At Water Way, we love the fresh taste that spring water delivers. We think the addition of natural minerals provides a flavor unmatched by any other type of drinking water.

Because we have a passion for fresh spring drinking water, we strive to deliver our customers the crisp taste we know it can deliver.

In order to do that, we have to bottle the water as soon as we possibly can. That is why we decided to bottle our water just 100 yards from the source of the water spring. Most of our cases contain water that was only in the ground 2-3 days, leaving in all the natural minerals, without the impurities.

Water Way is spring water you can trust. Learn more about how home and office water delivery works!

Water Increases Productivity!

Businesses everywhere invest hours of time and hundreds of dollars on determining new and creative ways to increase productivity without sacrificing quality. Instead of finding real answers, companies lose valuable time searching for answers.

The good news is that sometimes major changes, or improvements, can happen with very minor adjustments. In fact, something as minor as increasing water intake can take your office productivity to new levels! As an office water delivery service, we know how happy our clients are, and we want to share with you why. Let’s talk about water and productivity!

(What type of water should you be drinking?)

How Water Affects Our Brains

Statistics suggest that around 80% of people are currently dehydrated. Many times, we don’t even realize how thirsty we are, even when our body is telling us. This is because we have been trained to think that stomach growls mean we are hungry, but more often than not, they occur because of dehydration.

So how does dehydration affect our bodies? Of course, dehydration has obvious negative impacts, such as dry skin, bad breath, and muscle cramps, but it also does a number on our brains.

Studies show that after just four hours without water, our mood decreases, our energy lowers, and our likelihood to develop a headache increases. This is because the brain is extremely sensitive to even the smallest changes of chemistry, such as a change in the body’s levels of sodium or potassium.

Furthermore, increasing water intake reverses dehydration, which expands the brain’s grey matter. Water makes our brains run more efficiently, and when our brain lacks it, brain tissue actually decreases.

Backing Up The Claims

Okay, we get it, you are a little skeptical. How much actually change can water make? Well, it just so happens that multiple studies have been done that prove the significance of hydration of productivity at work and home!

A study conducted in London tested 34 different people on their capability to complete tasks before and after drinking a glass of water. The results were incredible. The hydrated subjects performed all of the tasks at a whopping 14% quicker rate.

Another study measured the effects of dehydration on the actually brain. Researchers measured the brains of young teens, then asked them to ride bikes in heavy clothing for 1.5 hours to dehydrate their bodies. The dehydration led to shrinkage of the brain that averaged the equivalent of losing a year of age. If that isn’t the worst thing for productivity, we don’t know what is!

An Office Water Delivery Service Can Help

So, the head of a company, you can’t exactly force your employees to drink more water. How then do you expect to increase productivity through drinking water?

Well, have you ever heard the phrase “Out of sight, out of mind?” By using an office water delivery service, you receive delish spring water in a water cooler that you can place strategically. Just having the water there encourages employees to drink (and it’s much more appealing than pouring a glass of tap water).

So, what are you waiting for? Encouraging your employees to drink more water is positive for their health and mood (and your business!)

Distilled Water: What Is It Used For?

As a water delivery service, we find all water to be amazing, but today we want to talk about distilled water. Distilled water is more than just your average water. Distilled water is the purest form of water. Unlike spring water, which contains minerals, and purified water, which contains microbes, distilled water is empty.

(Learn more on the difference between spring and purified water.)

Distilled water is formed by boiling water and capturing its vapor, and it is used in a number of different industries.

Distilled Water In The Medical Field

Because distilled water is so pure, it is a common tool used in the medical field. Hospitals use distilled water to prepare food for their patients and sterilize materials. Surgeons use distilled water during medical procedures.

Anyone practicing medicine likely uses distilled water to wash their hands, and in laboratories. The purity assures the safety of the patient, and it’s imperative to the field.

At The Vet

Like the medical field, veterinarians also use distilled water. They too use distilled water for operations and sanitization, but they also use distilled water for intravenous injections. Intravenous injections are most commonly given to reduce fevers in our pets, and to keep them hydrated.

Distilled water is the absolute best type of water to be used in maintenance of automotives. The lead batteries that keep cars and trucks running rely on water. If the water put inside the battery isn’t completely pure, the battery can slowly deteriorate. The same problem can occur in a car’s cooling system if distilled water is not used.

Distilled water is the preferable choice for cleaning. After disinfectant has been used, distilled water can rinse away the chemicals and still leave a surface germ free. It’s also one of the only ways to wipe off a screen and avoid streaks!

Cosmetic companies use distilled water because of the purity. Skin care and makeup products have to have the cleanest water in their ingredients to ensure the safety of their customers. Impure water could cause an increase in blemishes, or worse. That is why purity is so crucial in this industry.

Finally, you can consistently find biologists using distilled water for experiments. Water impurities could ruin a difficult lab experiment, and determining the problem would be difficult. Distilled water prevents this mistake, and is also used for cleaning tools.

So, there you have it: the many industry uses for distilled water! To put it all simply, if you need to guarantee cleanliness, then distilled water is what you are looking for!

The Healthy Facts On Water

There’s always a lot going around about the new ways to stay happy and fit. Health these days is all about trying the latest fad diet, exercise routines, a cleanses, or newly discovered supplements.

What if we told you that health can instantly be improved by simply drinking water?

That’s right! You can increase your mood and health by adding a few extra cups of water to your diet. And even better? You could increase office productivity with an office water delivery service! Let’s talk about how it works.

(How do offices feel who use water? Check our case study.)

Water and Health

Because our bodies are composed of around 60% water, our bodily fluids rely heavily on the fact that we stay properly hydrated. Drinking enough water balances the body fluids that control everything from digestion and circulation, to body temperature and the transportation of vital nutrients.

Okay, it keeps your body functioning…but how does it compare to diets and cleanses? Well, did you know that the majority of the time your stomach is growling, you are actually thirsty, and not hungry? Drink a glass of water to rule out thirst before you indulge in a snack. Additionally, drinking two glasses of water prior to a meal has been reported to lower meal sizes, and in turn, aid in weight loss.

If you are still not convinced, let’s talk about bloating. Bloating is caused by water weight and/or constipation. Guess what helps get rid of both of those things? Water! Water weight is generally caused by excess sodium buildup in the body. Drinking water keeps sodium levels balanced, and increasing your water intake will flush out all the water weight you have built up. Another reason you might feel full is because you are backed up…literally. Constipation is caused by dehydration in the colon. Get to drinking, and your body will rid itself of this excess waste and weight.

Water and Mood

Just like water affects your health, it can also affect your mood. Numerous studies have been conducted that test how people feel after limiting water intake, and after increasing water intake. All of the conclusions have been the same.

Those who limited their water intake marked less energy, slower brain functioning (marked by confusion, or slower thoughts), and more susceptibility to stress. Those who increased their water intake felt more positive, energized, and alert.

It’s easy to use that as proof alone that water increases your mood, but let’s think on it further. Like we mentioned above, water keeps your body healthy. If someone is struggling with negative emotions, getting sick could make that worse. The very least water can do for someone who is mentally struggling is keep their body healthy. A healthy body is a great starting place to overcoming mental hurdles. So by not allowing you to fall further into unhealthy habits, water can be seen as a shield towards a more negative emotional crisis.

Happy and Healthy Employees: Office Water Delivery Service

Companies are always eager to find new ways to increase productivity, but we are pretty sure very  few consider using an office water delivery service to do it. Drinking water can easily increase productivity, and even boost company morale.

It’s simple. Water aids in health and mood. Both health and mood affect an employee’s ability to be productive! Having a spring water cooler in your office kitchen encourages employees to drink water because of its cool and crisp taste. Utilizing an office water delivery service means your company will never run out of fresh spring water, keeping your employees happy, healthy, and productive!

Spring Water Versus Purified Water

There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a nice glass of water. Not only does it cool the body, it’s also quite healing!

Have you ever had a scratchy throat and amped up your water intake to suddenly find yourself feeling much better at the end of the day? What about an aching stomach? Water can even help wake you up when you are feeling groggy. This is because a lot of the times we are feeling “out of sorts”, it’s because we are dehydrated.

What Spring Water Delivers

Spring water is captured through a mountain or artesian spring. When it is captured correctly, it is 100% pure, clean and full of minerals. You see, because spring water comes from water flowing underground, and arises through a natural purification system, it is detoxified, but still holds all of the great minerals the earth provides.

Often called “Living Water,” spring water is water as it is meant to be. It is raw and clean, and free from toxins, chemicals and additives. It also contains a perfect amount of alkaline, which helps level the bodies pH balance, and aids in stronger bones and teeth.

And, we must note, spring water also provides a more incredible, crisp, and revitalizing taste.

Where Purified Water Falters

While all drinking water must meet the Environmental Protection Agencies standards, all drinking water is not alike.

Purified water and filtered water are generally thought to be the same, but there is a difference.

In order to be called purified water, it must be sent through perhaps the most strict purification process of any of the types of waters. All chemicals and pathogens must be removed from purified water, but microbes are acceptable. Microbes, however, can be quite harmful to the body.

Aside from the microbes, this highly purified water sounds pretty good, right? Well, the major problem is the source. You see, because purified water has to go through such a rigorous purification system, the source does not have to be considered. Therefore, when you purchase purified drinking water, you could just be drinking tap water. And while many companies use fancy words to distract you from what you’re drinking, the majority of purified water sources come from a large metropolitan water supply system.

Why Spring Water Is Worth It

Investing in spring water for your office building is a great idea.  You employees will be pleased to have an ample supply of clean, cool water that has a great taste. It’s never a good idea to not supply water to your employees. This could leave your employees dehydrated, and groggy, or worse; sick.

Keep the environment and your employees healthy with the smart choice. Choose spring water for your office building through an office water delivery service.

How Drinkwell Water Filtration Systems Could Save Millions

Did you know that across the globe, 663 million people lack access to water that is suitable for drinking? That stat, courtesy of UNICEF, is sobering considering how widely available drinkable water is in this country.

Water scarcity is a significant problem across the globe. It’s not even a matter of having fresh, great-tasting water; it’s a matter of having water that is even fit for human consumption. Toss in a shortage of potable water for sanitation and you have an even bigger problem.

This dilemma is exacerbated by a lack of infrastructure in the Third World, particularly when it comes to water filtration. We take for granted the water filtration that is now commonplace in refrigerators and stand-alone units like the ones we sell. It’s sometimes hard for us to believe that this relatively-simple technology is in short supply elsewhere.

One company, though, is working to change that with their water filtration systems.

Drinkwell Rising to the Challenge

In 2013, a 26-year-old inventor named Minhaj Chowdhury created an organization called Drinkwell. Drinkwell was born out of a desire to remedy water scarcity problems throughout the globe, particularly in Minhaj’s family’s native land of Bangladesh. Minhaj remembers traveling back to Bangladesh as a kid during the summers and discovering that high levels of contaminants – especially arsenic – would regularly claim the lives of loved ones and friends.

He resolved to create a solution that would help remedy the problem of having a lack of drinkable water using a combination of knowledge he learned while studying public health at Johns Hopkins University and his entrepreneurial spirit.

Drinkwell works by supplying water filtration systems to communities throughout the globe in areas in which drinkable water is in short supply. The organization doesn’t just donate the systems, though; they actually help build a for-profit system in the local communities that can take care of the maintenance of the filtration system long after Drinkwell has come and gone.

This last part – making the enterprise a for-profit one at the receiving end – is one way Drinkwell is different from other nonprofits that work in the industry. By having local entrepreneurs take control and operate the system for profit, Drinkwell can ensure that the system stays operational as a part of a self-sustaining small business.

According to Minhaj, “Water is absolutely a human right.” While he doesn’t believe that providing water should be a for-profit enterprise – to him, it’s the government’s responsibility – many governments across the world aren’t fulfilling their duties to supply their people with drinkable water.

Changing the Game with Water Filtration Systems

The water filtration systems put into place by Drinkwell could go a long way toward lowering the 663 million people who don’t have consistent access to drinkable water.

In your own life, as an American, using water filtration systems isn’t a life-changing endeavor. But, it can make your water better for you and more enjoyable to drink. It’s just amazing that the same technology we use here in the states to improve our water drinkability is being used across the globe to change lives.

Tips for Storing Water for Emergencies

Emergencies can happen at any time, and you never know when they might strike.

For that reason, it’s always helpful to have a supply of water on hand just in case. You never know what can happen, and water is a necessity. We have to have it. So, it makes sense to keep a healthy supply on hand, according to FEMA, the American Red Cross, and virtually every other emergency management agency in the country.

How much is enough? What’s the best way to keep water? How long can you store it? We’ll answer all of these questions with these handy tips from a home water delivery service.

Keeping an Ample Supply

How much water is enough?

According to the Department of Homeland Security, each person in your household needs a minimum of a gallon per day, with a three-day supply. The American Red Cross actually recommends even more – a two-week supply in total. That equals 56 gallons for a household of four.

Most of Alabama isn’t prone to hurricanes (with the exception of the Gulf Coast), but we are prone to tornados and other weather events that can leave a family stranded. That’s why it’s important to keep a supply around the house.

Storing Your Water

Water should ideally be stored in bottles at room temperature, away from sunlight, and in an area that is dry. Keep your water away from chemicals, gasoline, cleaning supplies, etc. Bottles make it easy to store the water and transport it if needed.

Bottled water is recommended because tap water can go bad if power goes out. You don’t want to drink compromised water. The old adage of filling up your bathtub before a weather event so you have drinkable water is technically acceptable, but you’d much rather drink water that you can trust – such as bottled spring water.

How long can you store your water? Our 3 to 5-gallon water bottles have a shelf life of two years. The optimal shelf life for smaller containers – 1-2.5 gallon bottles – is six months, but the water is drinkable for two years.

Ensuring a Supply Before an Emergency

When an emergency happens is too late to start preparing by storing water. That’s why we recommend a home water delivery service that not only gives you a supply of water for emergencies, but also keeps your home well-stocked with hydrating, fresh spring water throughout the entire year.

Stay Healthy! The Need to Hydrate

We all want to stay healthy and well. We all want to feel our best. But did you know that most of us aren’t as healthy as we could be – due to one small fact?

That fact is simple yet profound: most of us go throughout the day dehydrated.

An estimated 75 percent of Americans are chronically dehydrated, according to doctors and studies. That means three out of every four Americans – that’s 247 million people – go throughout the day getting less water than they need in order to function.

That’s a huge number of people that don’t get the minimum recommended intake of water each day, and it is having a huge impact on the nation physically, mentally, emotionally, and economically.

The Pitfalls of Dehydration

Dehydration has serious repercussions for the human body, which is primarily composed of water. The human body needs a regular intake of water throughout the day in order to function at peak capacity. Without water, there are serious effects that impact how you perform and feel.

These effects include:

  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Lethargy
  • Loss of motivation
  • Inability to focus and concentrate
  • Difficulty with memory
  • Slower reflexes

In a nutshell, dehydration makes you into a lesser version of yourself. It hinders the work performance of employees and costs businesses in productivity – but because it’s a “hidden” cost, many business owners don’t realize it.

Combating Dehydration with an Office Water Delivery Service

An office water delivery service, hands down, is the best way to beat dehydration in the workplace.

Why? It’s simple. You can’t mandate that employees drink eight glasses of water (the recommended daily amount). But, you can provide water to them that is free and readily available via an office water delivery service that not only gives you the fresh spring water you need, but keeps it coming as needed based on your consumption.

You’ll notice a difference, as our clients have. One client of ours commented that she had never drank as much water as she did once she started getting water delivered to her from us. We can guarantee that she isn’t dehydrated – and as a result, she’s able to work at peak performance.

Office Water Delivery Service Case Study: Infomedia/Uptick

An office water delivery service can make a big difference in an office – but don’t take our word for it.

We sat down and talked to two of our clients: local website design and digital marketing providers Infomedia and Uptick Marketing. They share an office in Vestavia and have used our office water delivery service for some time now as a way to provide nourishing water to their 50+ employees.

What we do for them is simple: we supply them with nine to 10 five-gallon jugs of water every week to every other week (depending on how often they need us). We deliver the jugs and then take any empty containers they have back with us and replace them with filled containers so they can keep up a steady stream of refreshing spring water.

It’s that simple – and the results speak for themselves.

“We use their water for just about anything,” says Jason Lovoy, the president of both Infomedia and Uptick. “You name it, we use it for that. You can really tell a difference when you use their water for brewing coffee.”

Nicole Beachum, a vice president with Uptick, agrees that the water comes in handy. “Ever since we started getting water from The Water Way, I drink way more water than I ever did. That keeps me hydrated, which is super important.”

Says Jason, “It’s a huge perk, in my opinion, for the employees. It shows that you care. And it’s easy and inexpensive.”

Adds Jason, “I’d definitely recommend The Water Way to any office that is looking to add this service.”
